The Bible books we will discuss on May 23 are Jeremiah and Lamentations. The weeping prophet, Jeremiah, wrote both before and after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple in 586 BCE. The book of Jeremiah is long, Lamentations is short. Please try to read both but Lamentations will receive most of our time and scrutiny on the 23rd.
Please, after you’ve absorbed Lamentations, I’d like you to write a short note to God: a couple of paragraphs, a poem, a song, an acrostic—a lament or not—regarding your present situation—the economy, the isolation, uncertain future, loss, etc. We will share these on Sabbath. If you have no microphone for Zoom, please send your note to Andrea, via a reply to this email, so they can be read to the class.
