Job 28-42

In the Book of Job we learn that there’s a cosmic wager or a cosmic arm wrestle between God and Satan, but curiously, God has a stand-in named Job. But poor Job doesn’t know that he’s God’s delegate and that God’s reputation is on the line.

• In the second half of the book, Job finds no one who will defend him – none of his friends and not even God – so he defends himself with an affidavit, but he can’t find God to present his case nor even hear what the indictments are.
• Elihu says that God is so big that He’s not affected by our goodness nor our sins. Is there cosmic significance whether we trust God or not? Is God affected by our decisions?
• After being silent for 36 chapters, God finally responds. Does He answer Job’s questions? Job seems satisfied. Are you?
• Can you relate to Job’s sufferings, his frustrations or his questionings about God?
