Ezekiel

Teacher: Stephen King

As you read Ezekiel or review it again, reflect on this: It’s a time when the Jewish faith undergoes a tremendous transition. Ezekiel’s prophecies have two aspects:

  • One was before the destruction of Jerusalem when he was taken captive by the Babylonians and Jerusalem was destroyed.

  • Then, he prophesied after 586 BC - after Jerusalem was destroyed - and he has a lot to say but the message has changed.

I’d like you to reflect on how his message changes from before the destruction of Jerusalem to after the destruction.

And then we'll talk about how the Jewish faith changes during that time. A huge transition takes place because after 586 BC, they no longer have the temple. It's gone and so now the Jewish faith, which focused on the temple prior to that, now has to make a transition and so part way it may go back to the elements of that Covenant that we were just discussing today.
