The Old Testament (all 39 books) is a prelude to what’s about to happen in the first four books of the New Testament. We’ve enjoyed the prelude, let’s jump right into the main event, the Gospels.
The Gospel story told by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is a beautiful quartet about the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s sometimes told as a quartet, sometimes as a trio, a duet or as a solo. Matthew, Mark and Luke often sing trio so we’ll cover them together next week. John likes to sing solos, so we’ll cover him the following week.
People waited thousands of years for the Messiah and His Kingdom. Did Jesus meet their expectations?
What attracted people to Jesus? His miracles & healings, teachings, promises, death on the cross, resurrection, interactions with people, fulfilment of the Old Testament prophecies, or others? Did these same events push some people away? What was the difference?
What attracts you to Jesus? What stories from the gospels are most important for your trust in Jesus?
