The last chapter of Matthew (chapter 28) from last week's study was on the resurrection and there is no question that Paul, dealing with the Thessalonians, is addressing further the resurrection and hope. There are four themes in the book of 1 Thessalonians:

1. Persecution
2. Ministry
3. Hope
4. Being prepared

There are only five chapters in 1 Thessalonians, so read it, digest it and come with your ideas on the different themes in this book.

Short Outline of the Book of 1 Thessalonians from the Today's English Version:

• Introduction (1:1)
• Gratitude and praise (1:2 – 3:13)
• Exhortation to Christian conduct (4:1-12)
• Instructions about the coming of Christ (4:13 – 5:11)
• Final exhortations (5:12-22)
• Conclusion (5:23-28)
