The Radical Call of Jesus
Monday—Radical Discipleship

Series: The Radical Call of Jesus
Message: Radical Discipleship
Preacher: Japhet De Oliveira
Daily Walk: Japhet De Oliveira

Refresh: Open with prayer. Read or listen to Psalm 104:14–18.

Read: Revelation 11:19–15:4 (NLT). As you read the New Living Translation, note 1–3 insights.

Reflect: Summary! Ha—I know you need it. I certainly did. So I wrote it all down nice and neat. This page alone is worth the entire week, if all you are interested in is the Cliff Notes on Revelation and understanding the raw data. It is a ton of fun. It is the stuff I grew up on. Like oatmeal and soya milk. Very very healthy.

Chapter 11:19—By starting with the Ark of the Covenant  (symbol of His power and presence), Jesus is reminding everyone that His promise is still good (Matthew 28:20). He will be with us right to the end.

Chapter 12—Satan lost his place in Heaven. He lost his position over planet earth. He can’t defeat Jesus so he goes after those who follow Jesus—the Church.

Chapter 13—A counterfeit league is set up in this chapter to oppose God the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. This evil league’s final push is to deceive us into worshipping them instead of God. Their opposite counterparts are as follows:

Father—Satan
Jesus—The Sea Beast
Holy Spirit—The Earth Beas

Chapter 14—The time to preach the Gospel has never been more important than now. In the final days this will clearly divide the world between those who worship God and those who side with the counterfeit league, led by Satan. The contrast here is deeply rooted in understanding what it means to be faithful to God. To be a disciple of Jesus. To be a follower of Jesus. To be engaged and growing closer to Him every day. This will be the only way. In these messages we are called to place our trust fully in God.

Chapter 15:1-4—The same group of people as Revelation 14:1-5, whom Jesus will care for as He looked after Elijah during the famine in Palestine (1 Kings 17). It is a contrasting scene setting us up for the next section.

Recalibrate: Knowing that Jesus is with us and will always be with us, how do you frame the anxiety of what the future will be like?

Respond: Pray for your faith to be placed fully in Jesus.
